About the Ozone Unit
The National Ozone Unit operates under the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources (MECENR) of the Republic of Seychelles.
Our mandate
Established in 1996, the National Ozone Unit is responsible for implementing the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment in Seychelles. We regulate the import of ozone-depleting substances and hydrofluorocarbons, certify refrigeration and air-conditioning technicians, conduct public awareness programmes, and report to the Ozone Secretariat and the Multilateral Fund.
What we do
We issue import permits for all controlled substances entering Seychelles, maintain the national refrigerant register, license RAC technicians, organise training workshops with UNEP and UNIDO, and produce the country's annual compliance reports.
